That part originally intended as an anecdote was gradually acquiring the status a choir plays in the greek tragedies. Something which can be considered as external to the story and indirectly commenting on it.
On the other hand one could easily sense the scientific reliability of Filiep Francis’s words .

It is a fact: belugas do travel, some have been seen around ‘the Azores Islands‘ ....

The conclusion is the unpredictablity, the natural course of events...
Even when we were filming the first shots could we not imagine that small details, associations ,objects and pictures would gain a major importance later on because the film was resting on what we had left, almost nothing...

We had a large beluga in mind and ended up with small particles of it.
Looking behind, we finally realised that the search, the ‘grail’ is precisely not what you‘re after, but that you are after it. 

There always is a story even when there’s no story at all.
